Casino Night

We are so excited to be having our first Casino Night.

M:100 Outcome

This past week our Chapter held its first Professional Management Development Plan, or PMDP, course. The M:100 course is the first course offered in the PMDP course plan. It is The Essentials of Community Association Management. Upon completion of this class, all students have the option of applying to take the exam to obtain their CMCA, Certified Manager of Community Associations.

Holding this class is a monumental step for our Chapter, and we are quite pleased with the result. We had 13 students in attendance, most of which are currently members of our CAI Chapter.

Next year we have two courses scheduled:
  • M:100 - April 12-14, 2012
  • M:201 - August 23-24, 2012
We look forward to holding those classes and growing our Chapter even more!

Meeting Reminder:::August 18, 2011

Can you believe it is almost the end of July? That means one thing...our meeting is next month.

We just sent out the reminder update for our meeting which will be on August 18, 2011 at UNF's University Center. We have 3 speakers that will be discussing the following: benefits of a reserve study during the budget process, the statutory requirements of the 718 and 720, and budgetting as a planning tool and basis for board and managers to track progress of association financial position.

We are expecting a great turnout at this meeting! So, if you have not sent in your registration form, please do so to caijaxmetrochapter@gmail.com. And remember, if you attend, your name gets entered into our drawing for one of many prizes! Then for each guest you bring, your name will be entered an additional time! Summer Fun

I hope that everyone is having a great summer so far! If we could get rid of the smoke here in the Jacksonville area, I believe we would all be a bit happier!

Be on the lookout at the beginning of July for our 3rd Quarter Newsletter! As we continue to have a quarterly newsletter, we will be adding more information. We are always going to be looking for articles that are relevant to our industry that we can use in our newsletters. So please contact me if you would like them to be in our newsletter.

Then on August 18, we will be having our 3rd quarterly discussion. This one is still in the works topic-wise, but we are going to feature a CPA, Reserve Study professional and an attorney. The Board and myself are greatly looking forward to this panel discussion. We hope that all of our members can attend!

Also in August is the deadline for registration for the M:100 course that is going to be held in September. Check out the calendar of events tab for more information in regards to the course.

Insurance Panel Discussion Outcome

The meeting went absolutely great thanks to all of our Members and their guests! A big thanks goes out to our three speakers from our meeting on Thursday, Roland Mastandrea from Connect America Insurance Agency, Chuck Bushong  from Bushong Insurance Associates, and John Fletcher with Fletcher Stein. All three topics of D&O, General Liability and Property were great, and brought up some interesting points of views.

We also had two meeting sponsors, Community Management Concepts of Jacksonville, Inc. and All Weather Contractors, Inc. CMC Jacksonville sponsored the cost of all our Homeowners and Board Members, and All Weather sponsored the meeting cost of all our Managers.

With each meeting our Chapter has, we are becoming more and more successful! It is so great to have so many of our Members in attendance. With each meeting our Membership is getting bigger!

Insurance Panel Discussion - May 19, 2011

If you have received the Insurance Panel Discussion brochure and then the newsletter, you will notice the cost shows 2 different prices for Board Members and Managers. The Insurance Panel Discussion is FREE to all Managers, Board Members and Homeowners.

We have 3 great insurance agents that will be speaking at this panel discussion. Chuck Bushong with Bushong Insurance Agency is the first speaker. Roland Mastandrea, with Connect America Insurance Agency, is our 2nd speaker. And, our final speaker is John Fletcher with Fletcher/Stein.

As stated above, the meeting is going to be FREE to all Managers, Board Members and Homeowners because our sponsors for this meeting are paying your way in! So be sure to give them a big thanks at the meeting!

M-100 CourseWe are pleased to announce that we have a date set for the Professional Management Development Program’s (PMDP) M-100 course! It is going to be held Thursday, June 2 through Saturday, June 4, 2011. The course will be held at the Jacksonville Marriott at 4670 Salisbury Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256.  The course instructor is Pam Bailey. Things to come for our Chapter!!!

This week has been an extremely successful one for our Chapter! The Board met earlier this week in regards to the upcoming year, and we have so much planned! Our next meeting will be held at the University Center again. The topic and speakers will be announced soon!

For those of you who don't know, our Chapter has grown to over 100 members! We aren't even through our first full year either. In addition to a couple meetings planned for this year, we are nearly done reviewing our sponsorship packages we are going to offer pro-rated for April 1 through December 31.

Legal Panel Discussion Outcome

There was so much time and planning involved in making the 2011 Legal Panel Discussion possible. But, February 3 came and it was much more successful than we could have hoped!! There were 77 attendees, of which about 30 were Board Members. We count that alone as a great success!

A BIG thanks goes out to our 4 legal panel attorneys. Missy Turra from Holland & Knight, Aaron Gordon from LM Funding, Richard Levin from Condo Defects Law Group and J. David Davila from Clayton & McCullough all did an amazing job speaking on collections, developer transition, construction defects and covenants enforcement. This was not possible without you!
